Matt Nagy provides commentary on 4 Chiefs’ pass-catchers

Photo by Jamie Squire/Getty Images On Thursday, Kansas City’s offensive coordinator gave some notes on four of the team’s receivers. After the Kansas City Chiefs completed this week’s organized team activities (OTAs) on Thursday, offensive coordinator Matt Nagy spoke to reporters about the new and familiar faces of his receiving corps. Xavier Worthy Having already garnered national media attention ahead of his rookie debut, Nagy believes the team’s first-round pick is making great strides during OTAs, saying that even though he’s been sidelined with a hamstring injury, the sessions have “been really good for him.” “We throw a lot to these guys in practice mentally,” explained the coordinator, “so right now the biggest thing is for him to understand what we do offensively — and then not just one position, but all the positions. “I think for him, it’s really valuable for him to be able to tell me while we’re standing there in practice where he’s supposed to go and

Chiefs’ DBs coach: replacing Jordan-like L’Jarius Sneed will be challenging

Photo by Steph Chambers/Getty Images The Chiefs’ defensive coaches discuss the difficulty of replacing Sneed after trading him to the Titans this offseason. The Kansas City Chiefs are navigating a significant transition in their secondary after the big offseason trade, which sent cornerback L’Jarius Sneed to the Tennessee Titans. Sneed anchored the team’s defensive backfield, amassing 10 interceptions, 40 passes defended, and 303 combined tackles since being drafted by the team in 2020. His versatility and ability to shut down the opposing team’s No. 1 wide receiver make him difficult to replace, as emphasized by Chiefs’ defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo during Thursday’s post-practice interview. “I don’t think anybody’s going to replace Sneed,” Spagnuolo said, acknowledging the challenge ahead.“ I thought LJ had a remarkable year in everything he did. But there’s some shoes there to fill. And whether we do it with one person or two people or shift guys around, we’ll

Here is the list of players not in attendance: wide receiver Hollywood Brown, defensive tackle Isaiah Buggs, running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire, defensive tackle Chris Jones, wide receiver Kadarius Toney, left guard Joe Thuney and cornerback Jaylen Watson. Linebacker Leo Chenal, defensive tackle Derrick Nnadi, defensive lineman Charles Omenihu (ACL) and wide receiver Xavier Worthy (hamstring) appeared at practice but did not wear helmets. Running back Keaontay Ingram could have an offensive impact in 2024

Photo by Michael Owens/Getty Images The third-year back has a chance to carve out a role in Kansas City. The Kansas City Chiefs have brought in a handful of new offensive players who could quickly make a name for themselves. Wide receiver Hollywood Brown leads this wave of newcomers — primarily rookies with exciting traits to build upon. Among the team’s running backs, the only newcomer (aside from two undrafted free agents) is former Welsh rugby star Louis Rees-Zammit. It’s hard to imagine that he’ll soon get traditional backfield snaps to spell Isiah Pacheco and Clyde Edwards-Helaire. But until the role that former Kansas City running back Jerick McKinnon occupied with the team has been filled, there is room for another back to make an impact. The strongest candidate is third-year player Keaontay Ingram, a former USC running back who appeared in 20 games before the Arizona Cardinals cut him in late November. Sounds to me from our media here with Chiefs GM Brett Ve

The title is an homage to the Cleveland Heights neighborhood in which they grew up. Which players need to have their contracts extended before 2024?

Photo by David Eulitt/Getty Images Creed Humphrey is among Kansas City players who could get new contracts. On Wednesday, an ESPN+ article considered a group of NFL players who will be free agents after the 2024 season, guessing which ones will get new deals before they begin the final season under their current contracts. One of them was a Kansas City Chiefs player. ESPN beat reporter Adam Teicher described their situation. C Creed Humphrey, Kansas City Chiefs Latest on negotiations: Humphrey could ask for top-of-the-market money for his position. He has been that good since joining the Chiefs as a second-round draft pick in 2021. Humphrey had the second-best pass block win rate for an offensive lineman and the best for a center (98.4%) last season. He also was second (98.1%) in 2022 and led the NFL (97.7%) as a rookie. The Chiefs haven’t spent big on their own offensive linemen when they’ve come up for new contracts in recent years. Center Mitch Morse and tackle

Chiefs Studios Features: Travis Kelce could have a huge comeback in 2024

Photo by Luke Hales/Getty Images Chiefs headlines for Wednesday, May 29th The latest NFL analyst thinks Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce can have a huge comeback season in 2024 | AtoZ Sports With the arrival of new offensive weapons in Xavier Worthy, the rookie they traded up for in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft, and Hollywood Brown, whom they signed as a free agent, the Chiefs’ offense is poised for a significant improvement. The addition of these talented players instills a sense of hope and optimism for the upcoming season. A stronger offense enhances the team’s overall performance and alleviates the pressure on Kelce. With other weapons, teams can not focus on Kelce as much. Last season, we saw teams be able to focus solely on Kelce because mostly no one trusted the other players on the Chiefs to beat them. And that’s fair. But, because of how the offense will operate in 2024, with likely much more of a deep threat than last year, Kelce can hav

In a new running back ranking, PFF has Isiah Pacheco right where he belongs

Photo by Focus on Sport/Getty Images In his second season, Kansas City’s starting running back revealed his true identity. On Monday, Pro Football Focus writer Thomas Valentine assembled a ranking of the NFL’s top running backs for 2024. Christian McCaffrey of the San Francisco 49ers, Derrick Henry of the Baltimore Ravens and Nick Chubb of the Cleveland Browns led the pack — and the Kansas City Chiefs’ starter Isiah Pacheco landed right in the middle of the pack. 15. Isiah Pacheco, Kansas City Chiefs Pacheco runs like he’s mad at the ground for its existence. The Chiefs’ seventh-round pick from 2023 rushed for 935 yards and seven touchdowns en route to helping the team to back-to-back Super Bowl wins. Averaging 4.6 yards per carry, Pacheco earned an 82.3 grade in 2023 and tallied 11 runs of 15-plus yards. He’ll continue to be a real weapon for the Chiefs in their pursuit of immortality. Takeaway It’s hard being a running back in Kansas City. You’re playin

How could the defense play without L’Jarius Sneed in 2024?

Mark J. Rebilas- Without its top cornerback, how can Kansas City make adjustments to maintain its success? Aside from quarterback Patrick Mahomes, cornerback L’Jarius Sneed was arguably the Kansas City Chiefs’ best player in 2023. The team felt comfortable leaving the fourth-year player on an island against the NFL’s best wide receivers. He proved capable of defending them without safety help, which allowed the Chiefs to shift their coverages and be more aggressive with some of their pressures. But following their second consecutive Super Bowl championship, the Chiefs balked at retaining Sneed. His age, long-term injury outlook (and the money it would take to keep him) forced the team to trade him to the Tennessee Titans. Given Kansas City’s ability to identify and develop young cornerbacks, it was a move that made sense. Still, without Sneed, the Chiefs’ defense won’t be able to defend against opposing offenses in quite the same way; the coverages and personnel match

Chiefs Studios Features: Tom Brady ‘cautiously optimistic’ about Chiefs’ three-peat chances

Photo by Maddie Meyer/Getty Images Chiefs headlines for Tuesday, May 28 The latest Tom Brady cautiously optimistic on Chiefs’ 3-peat chance: ‘It’s a big challenge’ | Fox News If Tom Brady can’t even do it, he’s skeptical whether anyone can. “To put three of those together, in back-to-back-to-back seasons, with drafting last, a very hard schedule, all of the turnover in free agency and guys continuing to be motivated, it’s a big challenge …” Brady said on Monday’s “The Herd.” “There’s not a 50% chance of that happening. They’re way less than that. Those players are going to show up every day, they’re going to have to put in the work like they have.” However, he wouldn’t exactly be surprised. “That’s not to say the Chiefs couldn’t accomplish that. Believe me, everybody would probably put them as one of the odds-on favorites to do it …” he said. “They have a tremendous coach in Andy Reid, who doesn’t ever look backward,” Brady said. “He’s not going to say, ‘H

Let’s Argue: Chiefs’ defense will hold Joe Burrow under 20 points

Photo by David Eulitt/Getty Images Our Mark Gunnels takes on all your hot takes, wacky predictions and unpopular opinions. Welcome to this week’s edition of Let’s Argue! Let’s Argue is a recurring series that looks at hot takes, unpopular opinions, wacky predictions and more from Kansas City Chiefs fans. --- Kansas City’s wide receiver room is set for the season. The WR room is set for the season.— Cullen Jekel (@DoctorJekel) May 17, 2024 This may be an unpopular opinion amongst Chiefs fans, and I’m not sure why. In 2023, outside of Rashee Rice, the room was filled with inconsistent play throughout the year. Fortunately, the defense played at a historic level. Led by defensive tackle Chris Jones, the defense held teams under 28 points 21 times (playoffs included), which is the most in NFL history. Even in the Super Bowl victory over the San Francisco 49ers, the offense stalled for most of the game. Now, things look entirely different, thanks to
