Chiefs open as 4.5-point favorites over the Falcons in Week 3

On Sunday, the Kansas City Chiefs will go on the road to play the Atlanta Falcons in a Week 3 matchup. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:20 p.m. on NBC — locally on KSHB/41. According to FanDuel Sportsbook, Kansas City has opened as a 4.5-point road favorite in the game. In Week 2, the Chiefs opened as 6.5-point home favorites against the Cincinnati Bengals, winning that game 26-25. The week before, Kansas City was a three-point home favorite against the Baltimore Ravens — and won that game 27-20. The Falcons are coming off a 22-21 win over the Philadelphia Eagles — a game for which Philadelphia opened as a 6.5-point favorite. Atlanta opened the season as a 3.5-point home underdog against the Pittsburgh Steelers, who had hired the Falcons' former head coach Arthur Smith as their offensive coordinator this season. The Falcons lost the game 18-10, but never gave up a touchdown; Pittsburgh's scoring came from six field goals.

Peter King Says There Is Now A ‘Classic Rivalry’ In AFC

(Photo by Scott Halleran/Getty Images) The Kansas City Chiefs are the team to beat in the National Football League, and that will continue to be the case until proven otherwise. As such, everybody will aim for their crown, all while the fans and analysts try to figure out who's got the best chance to beat them. Notably, most people think the Cincinnati Bengals are in the best position to take them down. Both teams have developed a strong rivalry, and you just can tell that even their players don't like each other. With that in mind, and given how close those games have been, NFL analyst Peter King claimed that this has now become a 'classic rivalry.' Talking on SiriusXM NFL Radio, King pointed out that the Chiefs and Bengals have squared up six times in less than three calendar years, with the Bengals winning the first three matchups. "We have a CLASSIC rivalry in the AFC now with Kansas City and Cincinnati."@Peter_King breaks down Week 3 with

A love letter to Arrowhead Stadium on my Dad’s 56th Birthday

In memory of Ron Allen Kopp Sr, 1968 - 2024 Two days before what would have been my Dad’s 56th birthday, the Kansas City Chiefs beat the Cincinnati Bengals at Arrowhead Stadium in a wacky game. The offense overcame three ugly turnovers, a lineman caught a touchdown, the Chiefs hit on a scoop-and-score, and it all came down to a win-or-lose field goal as time expired. I can hear my Dad using those details to explain how that was a 1990s Chiefs win. He would cite the Bengals’ missed extra point that kept the score within two points as proof of “Arrowhead magic.” He would give the Sea of Red credit for any sack on third down, then excitedly recall which moments brought out the loudest crowd pops throughout the game. I truly envy my Dad, my Mom, and all the original fans who established the advantage of Arrowhead Stadium. My Dad was boastfully proud of being too loud for John Elway in 1990 or blowing out the Buffalo Bills 33-6 on Monday Night Football in 1991. He cackled at the mem

Chiefs Studios Features: Are the Chiefs lucky? Or just better prepared?

Photo by Kevin Sabitus/Getty Images Chiefs headlines for Tuesday, Sepetember 17 The latest Are the Chiefs lucky? Or just better prepared? | Fox Sports On “The Facility,” Chase Daniel pointed to a handful of plays in Week 2’s game that gave Kansas City the edge, such as Mahomes connecting with Rice on a 44-yard touchdown pass because a Bengals safety cheated on his coverage, and getting a scoop-and-score on Burrow’s fumble in the fourth quarter. Colin Cowherd also mocked the idea that the Chiefs are lucky. As he noted that Kansas City’s defense is now “winning these games,” Cowherd said that the Chiefs’ performance “in the situational stuff” separates them from the rest of the league, comparing them to one of the other great dynasties in NFL history. “It’s like the Patriots handed the baton to the Chiefs on how to win games late against rivals,” Cowherd said on “The Herd.” “That’s what they said for 20 years about New England: ‘Just lucky New England.’ The Chiefs

5 things we learned from the Chiefs’ Week 2 nailbiter against the Bengals

Photo by Scott Winters/Icon Sportswire via Getty Images Kansas City took it down to the wire again — but a win is a win. The Kansas City Chiefs came close to giving their fans a heart attack for a second straight week — but still managed to hand the Cincinnati Bengals a 26-25 defeat on a game-winning 51-yard field goal by placekicker Harrison Butker as time expired. It wasn’t a pretty game. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes uncharacteristically threw two interceptions and was under consistent pressure from the Bengals’ pass rushers. But in the end, the defending champions did enough to come out on top — and start the season 2-0. There were many things to learn from Sunday’s game. Here are five of them. 1. Harrison Butker’s game-winning field goal propels Chiefs over Bengals

The Kansas City Chiefs secured another nail-biting victory in Week 2, beating the Cincinnati Bengals in a thrilling 26-25 Sunday afternoon matchup. As has often been the case between these two AFC rivals, the game came down to the wire, with Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker nailing the game-winning 51-yard field goal as time expired. "I can't say enough about Butker and that kick," head coach Andy Reid said postgame. "He's so reliable, and we just appreciate how he goes about his business. As good a kicker as he is, he's an even better person. I appreciate him all the way around." It wasn't Kansas City's cleanest performance, as self-inflicted mistakes throughout the game culminated with them trailing 25-23 with less than two minutes remaining in the fourth quarter. Three turnovers — including two interceptions by quarterback Patrick Mahomes —put the Chiefs in a hole, but they managed to mount a crucial final drive, which set up Butker's

The whole city stops on Sunday just to rally around the team, and with a rivalry matchup on deck, this Sunday wasn't the exception to the rule. As shown by Jeff Darlington on social media, lines of Chiefs fans tailgating at Arrowhead are absolutely massive. 68 degrees and a 3:25 pm kickoff at Arrowhead. Injured Chiefs Star Has No Timeline For Return

(Photo by Jamie Squire/Getty Images) In Week 1, the two-time defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs stood their ground at home, getting the best of the Baltimore Ravens in a highly anticipated AFC Championship Game rematch. Although the Chiefs were able to defeat the Ravens in the NFL season opener, K.C. has been dealing with a significant concern after newcomer Marquise Brown suffered a serious shoulder injury during a preseason game. With the receiving corps being the Chiefs' primary focus during the offseason, Brown was one of their most significant acquisitions, as the veteran wideout was expected to be a consistent target for quarterback Patrick Mahomes in the passing game. Unfortunately, there appears to be no telling when Brown will be able to make his debut for the Chiefs, as he has been placed on IR and is headed for surgery. Chiefs athletic trainer Rick Burkholder recently gave a somber update about Brown's status. "Everybody involved felt

Hollywood Brown not expected to play in regular season, per report

On Saturday, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Hollywood Brown — who had been expected to miss 4-6 weeks for the sternoclavicular joint dislocation he suffered in preseason Week 1 — is "not expected to play in the regular season." Schefter said his sources have told him Brown was not expected to be back "any sooner than mid-January." On Friday, we learned that Brown was being placed on the team's Reserve Injured (IR) list. That will allow him to undergo surgery not originally believed to be required — as later explained by Kansas City's vice president of sports medicine and performance Rick Burkholder. Since players on Reserve/Injured must miss at least four games before returning, this meant the earliest Brown could have returned was for the Week 7 game against the San Francisco 49ers. Other Friday reporting, however, suggested that Brown would miss "several months." That meant Brown would miss a minimum
