How Jaden Hicks fits into the Chiefs’ plans in 2024

Darren Yamashita- How will the Chiefs new safety fit in with an established secondary? The Kansas City Chiefs selected safety Jaden Hicks in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft. Hicks will join the Chiefs from Washington State, where he was a two-year starter and earned numerous accolades in his short stint in Pullman. Hicks will join a Chiefs secondary that was regarded as one of the best in the NFL during the 2023 season and played a major role in the Chiefs winning the Super Bowl. The Chiefs traded away star cornerback L’Jarius Sneed and also saw the departure of Mike Edwards in the offseason, so there will be chances for Hicks to find the field in 2024. Justin Reid and Bryan Cook will both be the starting safeties in 2024, but Hicks will have a chance to learn from both players and carve out a role on the team. Evaluating Hicks In Kansas City, Hicks will likely line up as the team's free safety, and due to his skill set, he also can be the team's t

Chiefs Studios Features: The Chiefs are the best fit for Stephon Gilmore

Photo by Michael Hickey/Getty Images Chiefs headlines for Friday, May 24 The latest 2024 NFL Free Agency: Best Fits for Top 6 Remaining Free Agents | The 33rd Team STEPHON GILMORE, CORNERBACK FIT: KANSAS CITY CHIEFS Stephon Gilmore will turn 34 before Week 2, and cornerback is a position where players usually don’t play long into their 30s. But Gilmore was rock solid for the Dallas Cowboys last season, starting all 17 games. While he isn’t the same athlete he was coming out of South Carolina, he is still an incredibly savvy player who can play on the outside and in the slot. Teams needing a one-year rental at cornerback should be thrilled to sign Gilmore, and the Kansas City Chiefs are the best possible fit. The loss of L’Jarius Snead looms large, and the Chiefs hope Jaylen Watson or Joshua Williams can step up in his absence. Gilmore would provide a baseline of production for a team leaning more on its defense to win games. There has been a slight decl

Jayden Daniels, Malik Nabers bet on winning OROY — but Xavier Worthy could spoil it

Photo by Gus Stark/LSU/University Images via Getty Images Kansas City’s first-round pick is more than a dark horse to win the honor. On Thursday, news broke that quarterback Jayden Daniels and wide receiver Malik Nabers — who were LSU teammates before being taken with the second and sixth picks of the 2024 NFL Draft in Detroit — have made a $10,000 bet on which one them will be named the league’s offensive rookie of the year. According to ESPN, there’s a question about whether the bet will be permitted. It might violate the league’s policy prohibiting players from making NFL wagers. [T]here’s a good chance the bet doesn’t happen. One source said the education for rookies on the gambling policy will take place during their rookie minicamp, which begins Thursday with orientation sessions. The bet could end up being cancelled afterward. ESPN has contacted the NFL league office to determine if this would violate its policy on gambling but did not immediately hear back. T

Chiefs Studios Features: It’s time to hop on the Trent McDuffie bandwagon

Photo by David Eulitt/Getty Images Chiefs headlines for Friday, May 10 The latest NFL bandwagons to hop on in 2024: Chicago Bears top list, but don’t prematurely abandon Buffalo Bills | NFL.com Trent McDuffie Kansas City Chiefs · CB Remember Revis Island? How about Darrelle Revis’ beef with Richard Sherman? Or Sherman’s beef with Patrick Peterson? Maybe it’s just me, but it sure feels like yesterday’s star cornerbacks used to drive more discussion, routinely engendering debates over shutdown supremacy. No disrespect to young studs like Sauce Gardner and Pat Surtain II, but the position just isn’t moving the needle like it used to. So, I’m here to sing the praises of a talented CB who could be on the verge of superstardom. McDuffie isn’t as outspoken as many lockdown corners of the recent vintage, but his play speaks volumes. A scheme-versatile cover man who can blanket receivers in the slot or out wide, as well as rush the passer, the 2022 first-rounder ab

Hunter Nourzad brings physicality and athleticism to the Chiefs’ offensive line

Photo by G Fiume/Getty Images Kansas City may have drafted its interior swing lineman of the future. In the fifth round of the 2024 NFL Draft, the Kansas City Chiefs drafted Penn State offensive lineman Hunter Nourzad. At 6 feet 4 and 317 pounds, Nourzad finished his collegiate career with two seasons as an interior offensive lineman at Penn State after four years as a tackle for Cornell. The Chiefs probably intend to make Nourzad their interior “swing” lineman — and his film suggests he could do it. Let’s take a look. Pass Protection Nourzad moves well laterally, so it’s easy to see how he was able to play tackle at Cornell. Nourzad does a great job locking out and mirroring the NT here. Good posture in pass pro, and a good job of keeping his hands tight and his feet moving till the end of the play. pic.twitter.com/vZV2tmP1GK— Taylor Bell (@CJScoobs) May 2, 2024 On this snap, Nourzad begins by setting to his right against the 1-technique facing him —
