Ravens LB Kyle Van Noy calls Chiefs training staff 'unprofessional' after injury during game against Kansas City | The Athletic
During an episode of his podcast "McCoy & Van Noy," Van Noy said he sustained a fractured orbital bone and needed to see an ophthalmologist but was left waiting in the locker room.
"I was disappointed in the way the training staff of the Chiefs handled the situation. When you get hurt, especially something that could be serious like mine was, you're supposed to rely on the (home) team's training staff or their doctors," he said. "They took an entire quarter to get down to talk to me in the locker room, which to me is unacceptable. Because then you start thinking, 'What if I was trying to go back in the game? What if I was really, really hurt?'"

2024 NFL Week 2 QB Power Rankings: Colts' Anthony Richardson, Buccaneers' Baker Mayfield make major leaps | CBS Sports
1 - Patrick Mahomes
Kansas City Chiefs QB
Predictably on point in critical spots, Mahomes also had plenty of confidence sending it downfield in Week 1 thanks to the added speed of Xavier Worthy out wide. No one is more trustworthy.

Cowherd's thoughts: "Seven yards per play against the Ravens defense. And, again, I'll go back to this … who really plays great defense in the league? If you're great situationally, then you're great in the NFL … I think the bottom line is Xavier Worthy touched the ball three times and had two touchdowns. That had to be encouraging. Hollywood Brown's coming back. I'll say it again. I think we have two great teams in the league."
The Ringer's 2024 QB Rankings | The Ringer
Well, you can't get any higher than no. 1, but Mahomes isn't just competing with his contemporaries at this point; he's chasing ghosts named Brady, Montana, and Manning. For my money, Mahomes is already the best to ever do it, but if that's going to become a consensus take, he'll have to trim some of the fat in his game that is highlighted above. If Mahomes were a bit more subtle with his pocket movement and a bit more disciplined with his mechanics (without sacrificing the fluidity!) there would be no more nits to pick—and picking nits is all we can do with him at this point.

Former Chiefs safety joins parade of Browns players hitting injured reserve | Arrowhead Addict
A familiar face for Kansas City Chiefs fans sits among those who were placed on the Browns IR: safety Juan Thornhill. Thornhill was the Chiefs' second-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft and became a Week 1 starter at safety from start of his rookie campaign. For the next four years, he would become a pillar in the team' secondary before leaving for a lucrative deal in free agency to Cleveland.

All told, 123 million people saw at least part of one game, its highest total for an opening week since 2019.
"A great start with the viewership. It was great to be back and a lot to be excited about," said Hans Schroeder, the executive vice president of NFL Media.
Tyreek Hill calls for firing of police officer involved in incident | USA Today
In a statement released on Tuesday night by Hill's attorney, Julius Collins, Hill called for the immediate termination of the officer – Danny Torres – who has been placed on administrative duties while an investigation continues in regard to Sunday's incident before the Dolphins' Week 1 home game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
"We are of the opinion that the officer's use of force was excessive, escalating, and reckless," the statement read. "We are demanding that the officer be terminated effective immediately.
"The events that occurred on Sunday, September 8, 2024, are just a reminder of the realities of the many injustices that people of black and minority communities face at the hands of law enforcement. While we are in no way accusing the officer of being racist, we are accusing the customs and practices of law enforcement from a historical standpoint of being discriminatory and oppressive to black and minority communities."
ManningCast plummets to all-time low of 872,000 viewers | NBC Sports
The 2024 season debut sank to an all-time low of 872,000, via Sports Business Daily. Previously, the alternative broadcast had been dancing on the line of slipping below one million viewers.
It was a 43-percent drop from Week 1 in 2023. The number represents only 4.2 percent of the total audience, as announced by ESPN, of 20.5 million.
Yes, the DirecTV audience was and continues to be excluded. That's 11 million potential viewers.
Of course, the ESPN release could have mentioned that fact when disclosing the number. Apparently, the number was regarded as so bad that even a fairly obvious explanation/excuse was eschewed.
In case you missed it on Arrowhead PrideChiefs Roster: Leo Chenal has untapped edge rusher potential
Is there untapped potential for Leo Chenal to be an edge rusher?
In the NFL, certain players don't fit in a conventional box. They might have one or two unique skills that set them apart as outliers from other players, but when tasking them with a specific role, it can be challenging to find a spot for them to thrive within the structure of the NFL. Often, these players tend to have a boom-or-bust career, where they are either fortunate to find a coordinator who knows how to maximize a specific skill set or struggle to get on the field.
One of the best coordinators in the league in putting players in the best roles for them is Steve Spagnuolo. Spagnuolo's defense has a basic structure as a 4-3 defense, but Spagnuolo calls a wide menu of plays. He'll call any coverage and put guys in different spots to succeed based on their skill sets. All the disguises, blitzes, and rotations allow for specialists to thrive in this defense because Spagnuolo is creative and fearless enough to call specialized plays. He can take misfit toys and carve a role for them based on their specific skill set.
Nobody epitomizes this more than Leo Chenal. Coming out of college, Chenal was a challenging evaluation for some. The size, downhill speed, and violence to his game were all in the 99th percentile for linebackers. You couldn't have asked for a better prospect when operating downhill as a run defender or blitzer. But, when you asked him to play off-ball linebacker and move in coverage or make reads, Chenal didn't look as strong.
