Travis & Jason Kelce’s ‘New Heights’ podcast: Travis takes the stage with Taylor

In the Season 2 finale, Travis talks about what it’s like to perform on stage at Taylor Swift’s tour — and more.

The Kansas City Chiefs’ superstar tight end Travis Kelce and his older brother — former Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce — host a weekly podcast called "New Heights." The title is an homage to the Cleveland Heights neighborhood in which they grew up.

If you are not on social media and don’t have anyone in your life who is on social media, and those people also don’t have anyone in their lives who is on social media, then perhaps you missed what could be the highlight of the offseason: Travis taking the stage in Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour concert at Wembley Stadium.

In addition, the Kelce Brothers recap Beer Bowl II — and discuss their feelings about the 4th of July and tattoos written in a foreign language.

1. To tat or not to tat...

There are a lot of reasons why people get tattoos. Decorating your body with permanent art has been a part of human culture for as long as we’ve been on this planet. In some societies, tattoos carry deep religious and spiritual meaning — for others, it’s a way for people to express themselves or commemorate a person, place, or time that meant a lot to them. And then, for some people, a calf-sized tattoo of Jason and Travis Kelce’s beer company, “Garage Beer” tattooed on your leg for $50 bucks worth of free swag is the way to go.

Upon seeing this, Travis said he feels responsible for making “Garage Beer” successful, so this guy doesn’t have buyer's remorse.

“Now, we gotta take Garage Beer to the f—king moon so he doesn’t regret this.”

A woman who attended Beer Bowl II in Sea Aisle, New Jersey, asked Jason to sign her arms so she could get the tattoo on her body. Jason obliged, and the woman followed through on getting the tattoo.

Travis gave Jason a hard time when he saw the finished product, criticizing his older brother's penmanship.

“You couldn’t make it look nice Jason? It looks like a little kid scribbled on it.”

2. Travis is in his performing Era

Last week, Travis debuted as a character in a skit at his girlfriend Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour concert. Travis said that appearing in the show was initially his idea.

“I initially mentioned it to Tay: how funny would it be if I just rolled out on one of the bikes during the 1989 era?”

But he also admitted that he didn’t trust himself to ride a bike on stage without crashing into something; luckily, though, Swift had a different role in mind for her Paramore.

“She found the perfect part of the show for me to come in.”

As Travis describes it, in the skit, “They are trying to bring Taylor back to life... knowing that she can do it with a broken heart.”

To do this, Travis picks Swift up off her feet and carries her limp body in his arms, laying her down on a nearby sofa.

“It’s such a fun and playful part of the show,” said Travis.

Swift and Travis weren’t the only performers on stage in the skit who had ties to Chiefs organization. Dancer and choreographer Kameron N. Saunders, who also plays a part in the skit, is the older brother of former Chief and two-time Super Bowl champion defensive tackle Khalen Saunders. His little brother isn’t Kameron’s only tie to the area. Kameron also attended the University of Missouri-Kansas City’s Conservatory of Music and Dance.

3. “Don’t drop the baby”

Despite making his time on stage in front of the crowds of screaming Swifties look easy, Travis revealed that the whole time he was carrying Swift, only one thing was going through his mind.

“Listen, the one thing I told myself is do not drop the baby,” revealed Travis. “Do not drop Taylor on your way over this damn couch.”

Travis quoted his former offensive coordinator, Eric Bieniemy, to punctuate his sentiments.

“Bieniemy used to always say, ‘That ball has our dreams, goals, and aspirations. You do not drop that ball.’”

Travis had one rule for his debut on stage: Do NOT drop Taylor

Luckily for Travis, he didn't drop the baby or fumble the girlfriend. Instead, on the bigger stage of his life, he passed with flying colors.
