A Raiders fan dressed up a Kermit doll to look like Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes — whose voice has been compared to that of the famous Muppets character. A video of rookie safety Trey Taylor at training camp on Thursday joking with the puppet went viral on social media before being deleted — but not before Kansas City fans noticed.
Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was asked about the video on Friday.
“Yeah, I mean, it’s still early in the year. Stuff like that happens,” he said. “It’ll get handled when it gets handled.”
K.C. heads to Vegas in Week 8 to play the Raiders before hosting their division rival on Black Friday (Nov. 29).
Mahomes said he wasn’t sent the video and, most of the time, he’s able to just focus on his job.
“No, not really, honestly. Everybody kinda just lets me play. I mean, they know how I am,” he said. “They don’t need to send me anything to keep me motivated.”

The presence of Patrick Mahomes alone should keep Kansas City in title contention for the next decade, but head coach Andy Reid and general manager Brett Veach have surrounded the two-time MVP with a supporting cast that’s almost unfair to the rest of the league. Starting with a dominant offensive line stockpiled with talent in the middle (Creed Humphrey, Joe Thuney and Trey Smith), the Chiefs have built a fortress around their franchise quarterback that will enable him to throw to a collection of wideouts with speed and playmaking ability. Tight end Travis Kelce remains the top option in the passing game, but he’s on the back nine of his career, underscoring the need for Mahomes to foster chemistry with the WR corps. With a defense that features studs on each level — most notably, DT Chris Jones, LB Nick Bolton and CB Trent McDuffie — the back-to-back reigning Super Bowl champions are poised to add even more hardware to the trophy case in the years to come.

When people think of reasons for the Kansas City Chiefs’ success in recent years, there’s a long list of contributors that likely come to mind. Head coach Andy Reid, general manager Brett Veach, quarterback Patrick Mahomes, tight end Travis Kelce and defensive tackle Chris Jones headline that group.
Doing the same exercise for the greatness and accolades of Mahomes probably results in a similar list: Reid, Kelce and some others. Does Marquez Valdes-Scantling deserve to have his name tossed in?
Most would say no, but the former Kansas City wideout certainly believes so. In a recent story on Tyler Dunne’s Go Long website, Valdes-Scantling explains how he helped Mahomes and Aaron Rodgers be their best possible selves while he was on the team.
“I’ve helped them elevate their games in different facets,” Valdes-Scantling said. “I helped Aaron win a couple MVPs. I helped Pat win MVP, a couple Super Bowls. My resume speaks for itself, too. Ain’t a one-way thing, man. I put up some big numbers with these guys. Made some big plays for these guys. It all works out on both ends. And it’s not a fluke. It’s happened everywhere.”

Quarterback Patrick Mahomes zipped a throw across his body to tight end Travis Kelce
Mahomes and Kelce (unsurprisingly) combined for a standout moment on Friday when Mahomes scrambled to his left before firing a throw across his body into the arms of Kelce, who caught the pass over the middle of the field. Kelce, who was quickly met by a defender after getting upfield, then kept the play alive by flipping the ball to tailback Isiah Pacheco.
It was a classic play in so many ways that showed off the trademark creativity of both Mahomes and Kelce.

Mahomes later made another noteworthy throw when he started to scramble but then quickly stopped and fired a “jump pass” to Xavier Worthy near the sideline. It was a good exercise for Worthy, who was ready for the throw despite the fact that the original play appeared to have broken down.
Another offensive player who impressed on Friday was wide receiver Justyn Ross, who made a strong, over-the-shoulder touchdown grab in the corner of the end zone during 11-on-11 drills. The referee watching the play then confirmed that Ross caught the pass in-bounds.

It was quite surprising when Patrick Mahomes posted on X his congratulations to a new Cincinnati Bengals signing. Cornerback Nate Brooks signed with Cincinnati, and the Chiefs star was ecstatic.

As it turns out, Brooks and Mahomes came from the same high school in Texas. The Chiefs star was giving his high school friend some well-deserved applause.
Mahomes has always been supportive of people coming from his hometown. He’ll routinely post highlights from Texas Tech’s sports teams. It makes sense for the Chiefs star to gas up Hobbs, even if he’s playing for their rivals.

A year and some change after moving on from Aaron Rodgers, the Packers have already locked down one of the league’s highest-paid quarterbacks in Jordan Love.
Green Bay is signing Love to a four-year, $220 million contract extension that puts him in a tie for the highest-paid player in NFL history, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported on Friday. Love’s deal also includes a record-setting $75 million signing bonus, per Rapoport.
Love’s lucrative deal, negotiated by David Mulugheta and Andrew Kessler of Athletes First, comes out to an average of $55 million per year, knotting him with Jacksonville’s Trevor Lawrence, who put pen to paper in June, and Cincinnati’s Joe Burrow at the very top of the skyrocketing QB market.
By coming to an agreement, Love, who had elected to sit out training camp practices until a deal was done, can resume working with his teammates on the field.

The ‘Fins and quarterback Tua Tagovailoa agreed to a four-year, $212.4 million contract extension with $167.1 million guaranteed, NFL Network Insiders Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo reported on Friday, per sources informed of the deal.
The $53.1 million-per-year new-money extension is the second-largest four-year agreement in NFL history, coming in a shade over Jared Goff’s $53 million pact and just behind the $55 million per year on Jordan Love’s four-year contract and Joe Burrow’s and Trevor Lawrence’s five-year contracts.
Per Rapoport, the deal includes incentives based on playoff wins and performance that can take his pay up to $55.35 million per year, for what would be a maximum total value of $221.4 million.

Jim Harbaugh already making mark with Chargers
Jim Harbaugh leaving college football after winning a national championship with Michigan and heading back to the NFL with the Los Angeles Chargers was already one of the most talked about storylines of the offseason. The league finally had an opportunity to see what Harbaugh has cooked up with his new team.
Justin Herbert has already impressed in the Chargers new-look offense under offensive coordinator Greg Roman, a system where Herbert doesn’t have to carry the offense on a play-by-play basis. A newfound commitment to the run game will significantly help Herbert.
Harbaugh has installed his culture with the organization already, having the entire roster take a photo with him when the team’s new practice facility was dedicated. That’s a welcome change in Los Angeles.
Joe Burrow: Receivers ‘deepest and most talented group’ he’s had since joining Bengals | Cincy Jungle
The Cincinnati Bengals went above and beyond in making up for the inevitable departure of Tyler Boyd. And apparently it’s working out.
The Bengals drafted Charlie Jones and Andrei Iosivas last year and Jermaine Burton this year. They also added Mike Gesicki in free agency and drafted rookie tight end Erick All.
So far, Joe Burrow likes what he sees in these new (and relatively new) pieces after their first training camp practice this year:
“I feel really good about all of our options, whether it’s Andrei, Chuck, Jermaine, Trenton [Irwin], I feel like those guys have had a great spring and they all looked good today,” said Burrow. “I feel really good about our tight end room as well. So I think this is the deepest and most talented group that we’ve had since I’ve been here from top to bottom in a lot of different spots.

Safety Chamarri Conner
Chamarri Conner is another young player who must step up amid roster changes. The Chiefs’ secondary was a key part of their defensive strategy on the way to last year’s Super Bowl win, and Conner’s development will be vital. Known for his sure tackling and versatility, Conner will be expected to make significant contributions in both pass coverage and run support. However, his play at safety might not be as crucial as his ability to play in the slot.
The loss of Sneed could force the Chiefs to use All-Pro corner Trent McDuffie on the outside more this year, potentially leaving a significant hole in the slot if no one steps up. If Conner can elevate his game and utilize his coverage and blitzing abilities from the slot, it will go a long way in solidifying the Chiefs’ defense and giving Spagnuolo another chess piece to deploy.
