Chiefs Studios Features: Joshua Williams could be a breakout player for the Chiefs

Photo by Michael Owens/Getty Images Chiefs headlines for Saturday, June 29 The latest 2024 NFL All-Breakout Team, Defense: Steelers, Jags each boast two selections; fear Kayvon Thibodeaux! | NFL.com CB - Joshua Williams Kansas City Chiefs · Age 24 Perhaps the Chiefs were willing to move on from L’Jarius Sneed due to Williams’ potential as a sticky cover corner in a man-heavy scheme. Since his arrival as a fourth-round pick out of Fayetteville State in 2022, Williams’ growth has raised eyebrows around the league, with scouts and executives appreciating the small-school standout’s game. As an instinctive playmaker with exceptional length, Williams has earned rave reviews for his work as a part-time player in Kansas City’s defensive backfield. He is not afraid of the bright lights and big stage, as evidenced by his play as a young defender on the back-to-back Super Bowl champs. With more opportunities to showcase his talents against elite receivers in the AFC, Will

NFL writer believes Chiefs will return to top of offensive rankings in 2024

Photo by Ezra Shaw/Getty Images In 2023, Kansas City slipped from its perch as the NFL’s consistently productive offense. It could return in 2024. On Thursday, NFL.com ‘s Gennaro Filice listed what he believes will be the NFL’s top 10 offenses in 2024, focusing on offensive points per game — that is, ignoring touchdowns scored by defenses or special teams units. Last year, the San Francisco 49ers led the league in that statistic — and in the coming season, Filice expects them to do it again. But behind the 49ers, he lists a unit that didn’t even make 2023’s top 10: the Kansas City Chiefs’ offense. 2. Kansas City Chiefs SIGNATURE STRENGTH: The best player in football. Fortune favors the bold, and Kansas City hit the jackpot with an audacious trade for Patrick Mahomes in the 2017 NFL Draft. K.C. gave up a third-round pick and a future first-rounder to jump up from No. 27 to No. 10 and take the Texas Tech gunslinger. Obviously, that deal turned out to be highway robbery

Chris Jones hoping to get some days off from training camp

Photo by Scott Winters/Icon Sportswire via Getty Images When training camp begins, Kansas City’s superstar defensive tackle thinks he can afford some time off. A year ago, superstar defensive tackle Chris Jones skipped the offseason program, training camp and the season’s opening game as he and the Kansas City Chiefs negotiated a new contract. Ultimately, the two sides agreed on a stopgap one-year deal to get Jones back on the field. Then in early March, he and the team finally signed a five-year, $159 million contract that included $95 million in guarantees. Even after missing all that practice time last season, Jones still earned a second consecutive first-team All-Pro nod. He’ll turn 30 before the team opens its 2024 training camp at Missouri Western State Univerity in St. Joseph in mid-July — and he’s hoping that under the circumstances, head coach Andy Reid will let him skip some practices. “Listen man, I’ve already been talking to Andy about, ‘Let me skip out on

WATCH: The Steelers’ Joey Porter Jr. names 2 of the Chiefs’ cornerbacks as best in NFL

Photo by Nick Cammett/Diamond Images via Getty Images The Pittsburgh corner put himself in the top 5 — but topped his list with two Kansas City cornerbacks. Appearing on Jordan Schultz’ show, the Pittsburgh Steelers’ second-year cornerback Joey Porter Jr. was asked to name the NFL’s top 5 cornerbacks. Like any corner worth his salt, he included himself on the list. But as the top two, he chose two of the Kansas City Chiefs’ cornerbacks: L’Jarius Sneed and Trent McDuffie. #Steelers CB Joey Porter Jr. lists his top 5 NFL corners! pic.twitter.com/X1Imqt9imP— Jordan Schultz (@Schultz_Report) June 25, 2024 Sneed, of course, will be part of the Tennessee Titans’ secondary in 2024. A new ESPN ranking lists the Chiefs’ roster among the league’s best

Photo by Scott Winters/Icon Sportswire via Getty Images A new ESPN article once again places Kansas City’s roster among the league’s elite. On Tuesday, ESPN published a ranking of the NFL’s 2024 rosters. Analysts Mike Clay, Aaron Schatz and Seth Walder each ranked a projection of every NFL starting lineup (and a 12th player who rotates into the lineup for each side of the ball) by considering the talent, age and production of every player. Those rankings were then combined. After being listed first in the 2023 ranking, the Kansas City Chiefs’ 2024 roster was ranked second behind the San Francisco 49ers’ squad. The Baltimore Ravens’ roster was third. Chiefs, Hallmark teaming to create new Christmas movie (no, really)

Photo by Kirby Lee/Getty Images The Kansas City Chiefs and Hallmark are teaming up to create a new, original Christmas movie, titled “Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story,” according to a press release issued by the club on Tuesday. “We are honored to partner with Hallmark on a project as unique as this,” said Chiefs president Mark Donovan. “As a club, we pride ourselves on exploring new ways to grow our brand, as well as connect with new audiences. This partnership unites two passionate fanbases and gives us an opportunity to show Chiefs Kingdom’s energy and tradition on one of the most-watched channels during the holiday season.” Here is the rundown of the film’s plot: Alana Higman (played by Hunter King) is sure that her family’s lifelong history as Kansas City Chiefs superfans makes them a frontrunner to win the team’s “Fan of the Year” contest. Derrick (played by Tyler Hynes), Director of Fan Engagement, is tasked with evaluating how Alana and her family stack up

PFF ranks the Chiefs’ running backs in the middle of the pack

Jeff Hanisch- Kansas City now has just two running backs locked in for 2024. Who will be behind them? The football analytics site Pro Football Focus has released its ranking of the NFL’s best running back squads. The Kansas City Chiefs fall in the middle of the pack. 18. KANSAS CITY CHIEFS Isiah Pacheco is the king of consistency, earning rushing grades of 74.2 and 80.2 in the past two seasons. He also recorded a yards per carry average above 4.5 in each of the past two seasons with 40 explosive runs, 20 in both years. Kansas City still has Clyde Edwards-Helaire behind him, but not much is known after that. Takeaway Here, PFF’s Trevor Sikkema correctly notes that behind Pacheco and Edwards-Helaire, we just don’t know who the Chiefs will have at running back in 2024. Among the five backs behind them on the 90-man roster — Keaontay Ingram, Deneric Prince, Carson Steele, Emani Bailey and Louis Rees-Zammit — only Ingram has NFL rushing attempts to his credit.

Chiefs Studios Features: NFL GM would trade 10 first round picks for Mahomes-type prospect

Photo by Douglas P. DeFelice/Getty Images Chiefs headlines for Friday, June 13 The latest Bucs GM: NFL Team Would ‘Offer Literally 10’ 1sts for Mahomes, Burrow-Type Prospect | Bleacher Report “Obviously, the quarterback is No. 1,” Licht said, per Graziano. “And if you know in the draft a quarterback is going to be lights-out— like, you know he’s going to be Patrick Mahomes or Joe Burrow— you’d offer literally 10 first-round picks for that guy. It wouldn’t matter. It would be worth it. But it’s such a crapshoot.” Licht was in his second year as general manager when the Buccaneers used the No. 1 pick of the 2015 NFL draft to select quarterback Jameis Winston out of Florida State. The Buccaneers never made the playoffs in five seasons with Winston. The team let him walk in free agency before signing Tom Brady in 2020. “We had Jameis, it didn’t work out, but then we realized that while we had Jameis we were putting together a pretty good team around him thinking

Travis Kelce isn’t ready to retire yet: ‘Put the load on me’

Photo by Ethan Miller/Getty Images Kansas City’s All-Pro tight end dismisses retirement — and discusses his mentality for 2024. Even at 34, the Kansas City Chiefs’ tight end Travis Kelce remains one of the league’s premier players. As discussions about his life after football gain momentum — fueled by the physical beating he’s taken on the field and his budding endeavors off of it — his retirement seems to be more and more likely. But as he enters his twelfth NFL season, Kelce isn’t focused on that. “I really can’t put a time frame on it,” Kelce of his potential retirement on Tuesday. “I love coming to work every single day. Obviously, I know there are opportunities outside of football for me, but I think you’ve got to keep in perspective that I’m still a little kid when I come into this building. “I know I’m 34 years old — about to be 35 — but I have a love to do this right here in the middle of the heat and in June. I love coming to work every single day and doing t

2 Chiefs miss Wednesday’s mandatory minicamp practice; 3 others limited

Photo by Perry Knotts/Getty Images Five Kansas City players were not full participants during the offseason’s second mandatory practice session. On Wednesday, the Kansas City Chiefs conducted the second of mandatory minicamp sessions. Chiefs Studios’s Chiefs Studios was among the reporters present for the session, which began around 11 a.m. Arrowhead Time. Two Chiefs players — left guard Joe Thuney and defensive end BJ Thompson — were absent. Thuney is dealing with the pectoral injury he suffered during the playoff game against the Buffalo Bills in January. Thompson was released from the hospital on Monday after having a cardiac emergency during a team meeting last week. It is unknown when he will be ready to resume practicing. Placekicker Harrsion Butker was out with an illness on Tuesday, but was back to work on Wednesday. Wide receiver Xavier Worthy, defensive end Charles Omenihu and defensive tackle Derrick Nnadi were present for the session, but were not weari

Chiefs Studios Features: The Chiefs have the best backup quarterback — and the best starting quarterback

Photo by Scott Winters/Icon Sportswire via Getty Images Chiefs headlines for Wednesday, June 12 The latest Top 10 backup QB situations ahead of the 2024 season: Chiefs, Eagles and Vikings among the best-prepared teams | CBS Sports 1. Chiefs Carson Wentz It’s been years since Wentz was a regular difference-maker, let alone a surefire starter. But his big-bodied dual-threat ability has been undersold since he left a dysfunctional Washington Commanders group; he was legitimately solid in limited work as Matthew Stafford’s No. 2 in 2023. Couple that, plus his extensive experience (93 career starts), with Kansas City’s championship-caliber weaponry and coaching staff, and the Chiefs could probably remain scary even if the matchless Patrick Mahomes misses a start or three.
